About us

The Hume Region delivers a range of services through Justice Service Centres at Wangaratta, Shepparton and Wodonga and at outreach locations in Myrtleford, Benalla, Cobram, Seymour, Mansfield and Corryong. The region also has two prisons, the minimum-security Beechworth Correctional Centre and H.M. Prison Dhurringile.

About the role

Based in the historic 1877 Mansion at H.M. Prison Dhurringile, working within our payroll and HR team, as a casual payroll officer you will play integral part of the payroll team which provides end to end payroll services for H.M. Prison Dhurringile and Beechworth Correctional Centre within the Hume Region.

In the role, you will:

  • support of both our Dhurringile and Beechworth payroll and rostering teams
  • prepare, maintain, distribute and adjust the roster on a fortnightly basis
  • enter all salary information and conduct fortnightly reconciliations against the roster
  • validate non-standard payments such as overtime, leave loading or allowance in accordance with the EBA
  • assist in the ongoing review and monitoring of rostering procedures and practices within the region
  • maintain accurate records and documentation for all personnel and payroll matters
  • collate statistical information for analysis and inclusion in reports and correspondence
  • provide administrative support as requested.

You will be required to be available during peak periods of the payroll cycle as well as be available to provide coverage where required.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • in depth knowledge of payroll processing in accordance with EBA and awards
  • experience with rostering
  • well-developed computer literacy
  • sound knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, guidelines and regulations
  • demonstrated payroll experience in the use of a Human Resources Information Systems (preferably CHRIS21 and Time Target).
