About Grampians Health
Grampians Health was established 1 November 2021, bringing together Edenhope and District Memorial Hospital, Stawell Regional Health, Wimmera Health Care Group and Ballarat Health Services to deliver safe, sustainable, healthcare tailored to changing workforce and community needs, for the long term.
This partnership follows years of strong collaboration and close partnerships between the four health services. Together, we will deliver better healthcare, enhance services and advance careers, closer to home, now and into the future.
A career with Grampians Health means you are connected and are part of a team providing quality healthcare to rural and regional communities. Our communities are diverse, as is our workforce, with expert clinical staff from across the world choosing to live and work in our beautiful region.
About the role
The Adult Acute Unit is a 23-bed acute inpatient facility, offering intensive, short-term mental health treatment for people in the Grampians region.
It is a dynamic area of mental health, striving to provide the highest standards of care for the community while maintaining a commitment to a continuously improving clinical environment.
The Adult Acute Unit offers continuing professional development with scheduled, regular sessions and individual/group sessions provided as needed with acute mental health educators. All staff are supported by a strong team culture, and staff new to the Mental Health field are provided with training and support to further develop skills.
As part of wider mental health services, AAU implements Safewards principles (a model designed to improve safety of everyone in the environment by reducing conflict and flashpoints) and commence recovery-oriented practice.
