The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital is a world class specialist hospital in eye and ear care that provides services across Victoria. As Australia’s only specialist eye, ear, nose and throat hospital, the Eye and Ear has been providing care for the senses for 150 years.The Eye and Ear has almost 60 different outpatient clinics for the diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of vision and hearing loss and provides a 24 hour emergency eye and ear, nose, and throat service.Every year the Eye and Ear cares for over 220,000 patients, with over 160,000 outpatients nearly 44,000 emergency patients and over 17,000 inpatients.The hospital is currently undergoing a major redevelopment to create a modern internal structure, improve access for patients and visitors and staff.

About the Role



The People and Culture (P&C) department has responsibility for recruitment, onboarding, employment contracts, learning & development, OHS, employee relations, reward & recognition programs, staff wellbeing, mandatory training, and overseeing external service delivery of payroll , salary packaging & employee support services. The P&C team is a small, diverse & highly functioning team.



An opportunity exists for a People and Culture Consultant to be part of the leadership team and work within a small multidisciplinary People and Culture team that deliver the full range of staffrelated support and services to the organisation.  As a People and Culture Consultant you will provide information and advice to employees and managers in relation to all people practices and ensure there is timely delivery of services.



The role will provide a variety of opportunities to lead specific projects and activities including:



  • Coordinating the Induction and Orientation program

  • Overseeing the remote working principles

  • Coordinating the reward and recognition program

  • Representing the P&C team on organisational working groups and committees

  • Supporting managers to deliver best practise recruitment, retention and performance management

  • Providing advice on People and Culture policies, procedures, Award/EA provisions, leave management, legislation etc.



The successful candidate will be suitably qualified and have demonstrated experience in a similar role preferably in a hospital setting.



This position is full-time, part-time (0.8) applications will be considered.  This is a 12 month parental leave back fill position.



All appointments are made subject to a satisfactory Police Record Check, an Immunisation status clearance and (if applicable) a Working with Children’s Check.
