About our Operating Suite at Monash Health, Casey Hospital

Monash Health is the largest public health service in Victoria, employing over 22,000 people across a range of specialities.

Our six theatre Operating Suite provides a service for the local community undertaking many surgical specialities include plastics, urology, gynaecology, obstetrics, ENT, general surgery and colorectal. We work alongside a purpose-built Endoscopy and Day Surgery Unit consists of two procedural rooms providing a wide variety of interventional procedures, including Gastroscopy, Colonoscopy.

About the Role

We are currently looking to recruit an Associate Nurse Manager (ANM) join our dynamic Operating Suite at Casey Hospital with previous Anaesthetics and PACU experience or Surgical experience . Reporting directly to the Nurse Manager (NM) the ANM is integral for the support, development, and daily operation of the Operating suite.

As ANM, you will be recognised as a clinical expert and leader within the perioperative team. The role operates as an extension of the NM who together model the core values of Monash Health through effective leadership and management of the nursing staff within the Operating Suite. This position is designed to support the NM to drive change, implement and embed continuous service improvements which will optimise health outcomes for the patients treated by the organisation.

The ANM role must provide effective oversight of the daily operations of the operating suite and will use their clinical expertise to provide guidance, direction, supervision, and support professional development in the peri anaesthetic field. In conjunction with the NM, the ANM will assist in achieving timely patient access to the unit, the effective utilisation of financial resources and fostering a safe working environment for staff.

We currently have available two Full Time (76 hours per fortnight) fixed Term contract working across a 24/7 rotating roster for maternity leave cover. One for 12 months and one for 9 months duration.

You have demonstrated skills in an acute setting and thrive when working in a fast-paced environment. With a caring and engaging manner, you bring a genuine interest and passion of Perioperative nursing.  Safety is paramount in this role whilst we advocate for patients in their most vulnerable state. Working closely alongside our multi-disciplinary team and medical staff, your clinical role in the team is to support the medical staff for procedures with an expectation of highly developed communication skills and knowledge of this area of nursing.

What you need:

  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia via AHPRA

  • Excellent communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrated acute nursing experience, within a Theatre environment beneficial but not essential

  • A relevant postgraduate qualification or working towards the same is desirable
