About General Medicine
General Medicine at Monash Health includes responsibility for an Acute and General Medicine service across its three acute care campuses at Monash Medical Centre, Dandenong Hospital and Casey Hospital, a peri-operative and consult service at Monash Medical Centre, Dandenong Hospital and Moorabbin Hospital, as well as the Hospital in the Home and Residential In Reach Service. General Medicine is the largest single medical inpatient activity at Monash Health with over 15,000 admissions per annum across the three sites.
General Medicine is an important training area for medical undergraduates, resident medical officers and Basic Physician Trainees. It actively fosters the development of the skills of evidence-based medicine and quality assurance in its trainees and has an active clinical teaching program for its registrars and interns. It continues to develop a strong training program for Advanced Trainees in Acute and General Medicine and is active in the local informal General Medicine Clinical Network.
