About the Role


Utilise your advanced clinical reasoning and clinical skills to manage adult patients in a subacute ward with a mixed caseload of rehabilitation (both neurological and orthopaedic) and GEM patients in this Grade 2 Physiotherapy role.


This position is based in the newly opened subacute ward at Casey Hospital, along with the opportunity to work closely with the existing subacute ward at Casey and the 6 subacute wards at the Kingston Centre in Cheltenham. Work collaboratively with Rehabilitation Physicians & Geriatricians and the wider interdisciplinary team to ensure the best management for Monash Health subacute patients.  There are 2 fulltime Grade 3 Subacute Physiotherapists working across the 2 wards (one GEM and one Neurosciences) as well as support from the Grade 4 clinical leads in the Neurosciences and Gerontology streams.


This role also supports the supervision, learning and development of Grade 1 Physiotherapists, Allied Health Assistants and students as well as contributing to physiotherapy and interdisciplinary quality activities. Working within both the ward setting and the Physiotherapy department, this role provides positive leadership to support the multi-disciplinary team at Casey Hospital and the broader Monash Health Physiotherapy team. This role is also vital to develop strong links between bed-based and Monash Health Community services.


About You


As a new or experienced Grade 2 Physiotherapist, you will have recent clinical experience in the care of the older person and in the subacute setting.  You will have passion for providing excellent physiotherapy services and with that, have advanced clinical reasoning skills and highly developed interpersonal skills. You will have experience in clinical education, demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, and a demonstrated commitment to best practice.

Experience in subacute rehabilitation in either the public or private setting is essential.


What you need:



  • Proven neurorehabilitation and GEM physiotherapy experience 

  • Experience in the subacute rehabilitation setting

  • Knowledge and experience working closely with an inter professional team

  • Current practicing physiotherapy AHPRA registration

  • Current Drivers Licence
