  • Location: Barwon South West Region The Planning and Approvals Program Officer will focus on providing planning support for delivery of DELWP’s Public Land Economic Stimulus and Victorian Great Outdoors projects on Crown land across the Barwon South West region.

The Planning and Approvals Program Officer will coordinate and prepare environmental and public land management advice for statutory planning referrals and other land use applications on behalf of DELWP Barwon South West region.  The Planning and Approvals team supports advocacy of DELWP's policy and perspectives from areas including native vegetation, biodiversity, Crown land management, bushfire management on Crown land, catchment management, coastal planning and pipelines. The position will have a particular focus on supporting delivery of DELWPs Public Land Economic Stimulus and Victorian Great Outdoors projects on Crown land in the region. 

You will join a flexible team working in the land use planning and approvals system, pursuing policy objectives in infrastructure and development projects.  In this role you will be a communicator with partner agencies, developers, and within DELWP. 

This position is an opportunity to advocate DELWPs interests of:

  • native vegetation and biodiversity,
  • Crown land management and bushfire planning,
  • environmental planning, water and catchments and
  • pipelines.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Mandatory: A tertiary qualification in natural resource management/environmental science or town planning.
  • Desirable: Experience in environmental assessment and/or statutory approval processes.

This is a fixed term position available for a period of 2 years.
