LEVEL CROSSING REMOVAL PROJECT

About the role

LXRP are on the hunt for passionate planners interested in collaborating with industry experts on one of Victoria's largest rail projects. We have a number of Planning and Environment Specialist opportunities on offer throughout Melbourne.

Reporting into the Senior Planning and Environment Specialist, the Planning and Environment Specialist will provide expertise to the organisation around planning and environmental issues impacting the delivery of our projects.

As a Planning & Environment Specialist you will be responsible for providing advice, whilst also working closely and building strong relationships with a range of government departments and industry stakeholders such as – the Department of Transport/VicRoads, the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning, Heritage Victoria, EPA and more.

On any given day you might find yourself:

  • Liaising with our project teams, as well as our communications team on planning and environmental issues/risks.
  • Preparing statutory materials, environmental referrals, permit applications and other approvals as needed.
  • Responding to statutory referrals from other authorities and councils.
  • Developing, building, and maintaining strong relationships with a range of different stakeholders.

The Planning and Environment Specialist roles are 3-year fixed term positions, paying a salary between $103,920 and $125,735 + superannuation. With a number of office locations on offer, including Mentone, Richmond and Footscray, with a hybrid working arrangement (weekly blend of office and remote working) envisioned for all roles.

About you

You will have a strong sense of purpose in helping the project deliver on transforming the way Victorians live, work and travel.  You will have strong experience in managing and providing technical advice on planning and environmental issues, including the management of publicly owned land. Candidates with experience from either the private sector and/or local government are encouraged to apply!

Demonstrated knowledge of the Victorian planning and approvals process and legislation relevant to the development and delivery of major infrastructure projects will put you on a good platform for success in this role. Strong stakeholder management skills are essential to this role as you liaise and navigate complex planning and environment issues with a wide range of internal and external clients.

We'd also love if you have:

  • Demonstrated experience in preparing planning, heritage, and environmental approvals documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of priorities, policies and processes at all levels of government.
  • The ability to communicate effectively and influence outcomes – you will be collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in planning, environmental management or a similar discipline is beneficial to the role but not mandatory.
