About the role:  

As the Planning Officer (Asset and Risk), you will provide leadership in the regional implementation of Parks Victoria's risk management framework as it applies to visitor sites and assets integrating into all planning activities including the High-risk assets program. You will provide advice, technical support and information on emerging issues for visitor experience, asset management and visitor safety and asset and risk operational advice to district staff.

You will be supported by the Regional Coordinator for Visitor Experience and Historic Heritage and will build strong relationships with line managers, staff and key stakeholder across Parks Victoria. As part of your role, you will have the opportunity to work across our iconic and diverse Parks across the South, Central and East Gippsland districts along with the North-East region, from the coast to the Alps.

We're looking for someone with:

  • Experience in built infrastructure planning, risk management programs and visitor experience planning, technical support and communication in a multi-disciplinary environment is essential
  • Proven ability in analytical problem solving and decision making
  • Sound ability in providing technical advice and support across a wide range of issues related to position function and public land planning
  • Experience in working collaboratively within a high performing team to plan, coordinate and / or deliver complex work programs

The Eastern Region consists of a diverse range of parks and reserves.  Staff working within the region are responsible for providing efficient and effective implementation of a broad range of often complex park management functions including natural, cultural and built asset management, visitor management and services, stakeholder management, park planning and emergency response.
