The Department of Premier and Cabinet is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Platform Engineer to join the Victorian Centre for Data Insights (VCDI).

VCDI has a whole-of-government role in leading the transformation of the VPS through data driven insights. It is helping to transform the way the Victorian Government uses data to inform policy making and service design on issues that cut across portfolios and are of whole-of-government significance.

As the Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for the operation and lifecycle management of cloud services that enable safe and effective service delivery.

The Platform Engineering team in VCDI bridges development and IT operations to provide ‘cloud-native' VCDI data and analytics platforms. 

You will provide hands-on operations of the cloud platforms and services that enable a DevOps approach to delivering VCDI data and analytics IT services. 

This role sits at the centre of data, platform and reporting and analytics - leveraging the best use of data across government and the public service.

VCDI has an exciting vision to extend their current data and analytics IT solutions into an enduring platform that will combine cross-portfolio data and analytics to support WoVG government initiatives.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • Experience provisioning, operating, and decommissioning cloud services
  • Experience providing cloud services within an Agile / DevOps environment
  • Familiarity with cloud security concepts
  • Highly developed communication skills with an ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong relationship management skills
  • Experience with technologies such as Terraform, Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform
