Position Summary:

A fantastic opportunity exists for an epidemiologist to join this high performing, supportive team which has recently expanded due to growth within the cluster. Within this role you will be responsible for overseeing the design of epidemiological analysis relating to specific cohorts of interest (for example, Healthcare, Aged care, Education, Industry, identified at-risk groups). This is a busy and rewarding role across a seven day roster within a fantastic team who have a great culture of comradery.

You will be responsible for providing specialist technical advice to strategic planning in relation to surveillance and epidemiology. You will lead a team of epidemiologists, project officers, and data analysts in the generation and assembly of intelligence. You will chair and/or represent the department in multi-agency meetings, working groups, and other forum relating to specific cohorts. You will also be responsible for developing briefs on highly complex issues and provide recommendations for policy / programmatic responses.

To succeed in this role you will have a relevant tertiary qualification combined with experience working as an epidemiologist in a public health department and/or emergency response setting. You will have a proven track record in leading teams and sound analytical skills. You will possess the ability to use judgement, initiative, and critical thinking while managing competing priorities. Knowledge of the department and its operating processes and information systems, STATA, R or similar software would be advantageous.
