A fantastic opportunity for a Policy Officer to contribute to the Victorian Air Quality Strategy team, aiming reduce air pollution.

The Victorian Government has committed to release a comprehensive Victorian Air Quality Strategy, providing policy and program priorities to reduce air pollution through to at least 2030. The Policy Officer – Air Quality in the Environment Protection Branch will work in a multi-disciplinary team to support this commitment being achieved.

Key priorities for this role include identifying air quality policy and program reforms for potential inclusion in the Strategy and related policy documents, stakeholder consultation and engagement, and coordinating the design of the final documentation.

To be successful in this position, you will be a self-motivated individual with strong conceptual and analytical skills, experience in policy research and analysis and skills in project delivery. You will also have proven time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and a flexible and responsive attitude to your work.

The role also requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with stakeholders within the Department, across government, and with external stakeholders to inform inform air quality policy and achieve improved protection of human health and the environment.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification(s) including post-graduate qualification(s) in science, engineering, law, economics, public policy, natural resource or environmental management, business management or similar is desirable
  • Experience in and/or knowledge of air quality monitoring and/or management is desirable

This is a fixed term position available until 30 June 2022.
