The Policy Officer is part of a two-person team responsible for implementation and ongoing management of a new statutory function under the Cemeteries and Crematoria Act 2003 (the Act). The function enables the Secretary to the Department of Health to direct a right of interment be modified or removed under circumstances as specified in the Act.

The Policy Officer will support the Senior Policy Officer to establish and implement a framework for the new function including the triage of applications, sourcing necessary information and legal advice, communication with applicants and other impacted persons, analysis of applications and related information and preparation of information to  support the Secretary's exercise of the power.
