The Portfolio Communications Manager plays a key role in the development and delivery of strategic communications for the Department of Education and Training.

The Portfolio Communications Manager plays a key role in the development and delivery of strategic communications for the Department of Education and Training.

The role is responsible for managing key relationships across the Department, understanding the policy direction and the Government's Education State vision and translating this into communications programs that inform and engage our target audiences. The Manager takes the lead on the Department's communication strategy and working with groups to plan a narrative that aligns with the Department's policy strategy.

The Portfolio Communications Manager - Internal, leads a team of advisers who are responsible for project managing major communication activity, and works closely with managers in the Communications Division and across the Department to deliver a coordinated approach to communications. The internal portfolio has a key focus on corporate staff and senior leadership communications.

The Communications Division sees four strategy teams align to form the Portfolio Communications Branch, comprising of: internal; early childhood; schools and higher education and skills. The successful candidate will be one of four strategic managers to drive innovative communications strategies for their portfolio.

The Portfolio Communications - Internal team support corporate staff across the organisation on a number of reforms and activities. In addition, the portfolio supports communications activities for the senior leadership, requiring the ability to connect portfolios to the bigger picture.

Impeccable leadership, project and stakeholder management skills set you up to successfully lead a team that contributes to the wider department's education priorities. You will collaborate with other managers and team members across the Communications Division to ensure the internal communications strategy is implemented to highest standards, while being the point person for department senior leadership.
