The Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions (DJPR) was established to ensure Victoria's strong economic performance by growing industries and regions. The Department supports a range of diverse portfolios and operates across metropolitan, regional and international offices.

There are multiple positions available for experienced advisors in the Delivery Group within the Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions.

The Delivery Group supports the effective and efficient delivery of high priority departmental projects and grant programs, from program design and sequencing, through to development, delivery, monitoring and program close. In so doing, the Delivery Group ensures the delivery of programs that are critical to the Victorian community and economy.

As a Principal Advisor, you will provide expert policy and strategic advice, lead and manage development of strategic projects, contribute to positive culture and engagement across the Department's groups, and work with senior stakeholders to coordinate the delivery of priority outcomes. 

The Principal Advisor will be required to liaise effectively with various stakeholders to shape priorities and strategy, ensure seamless and appropriate information flow and deliver tangible outcomes by translating and supporting the operational and tactical steps required to deliver.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Provide expert advice to senior stakeholders on current and potential issues and strategic and operational matters, and proactively drive continuous improvement.
  2. Lead and support the delivery of strategic projects, including organisational development initiatives, project plan development and execution.
  3. Lead and coordinate complex business processes, including those that directly impact and interact with external stakeholders and the public.
  4. Lead the development and dissemination of internal and external communications, develop and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, provide relevant information about issues, identified risks, and requirements to ensure appropriate information flow, and gain cooperation and influence views on a wide variety of matters.
  5. Prepare concise and compelling reports, briefings, submissions, correspondence, and other advice on complex and sensitive issues to ensure quality and timeliness of advice and facilitate effective decision-making.

To be successful in this role, you will require a strong knowledge of the operation of government, public administration, and public policy. A tertiary qualification in public policy, economics, strategy, or another relevant field is desired but not a prerequisite.
