POSITION SUMMARY:

As the Principal Estimator and Cost Planner, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of project cost estimating, planning, and reporting practice across a diverse asset base and project portfolio. A key initiative will be the establishment of the VHBA costing database.

As a subject matter expert, you will advise and support project teams in the following areas

  • Establish benchmarking, cost plans, and estimating practice
  • Peer review of cost plans, bills of quantities, and tenders
  • Prepare estimates for funding applications
  • Participate and support value management
  • Contract administration and quality assurance advice
  • Assess commercial and contractual risks

Your success will be measured by the implementation of processes to improve accuracy and efficiency resulting in a capability uplift and PMF adoption/compliance across all projects.

What you will need to be successful

As the Principal Estimator and Cost Planner, you will have experience across the whole project lifecycle, supporting infrastructure projects, ideally within a PMO environment. It is expected that you will have knowledge and understanding of industry best practices and be able to advise on project benchmarking, cost planning, estimation, and control to support the delivery of complex programs. You will have experience in the following

  • Project cost estimation and quantitation
  • Development of cost plans, cashflows
  • Risk and contingency calculations and value management
  • Reporting of estimates for funding application
  • Various project models (PPP, Alliance, D&C)

In addition, you will require a relevant qualification in construction management or quantity surveying. Membership of the AIQS, RICS would be well regarded.
