About the role

Reporting into the Managing Principal Lawyer, the Principal Lawyer will be responsible for managing and coordinating a range of different legal tasks associated with project development and delivery. You will be providing advice and expertise on matters such as:

  • Legal, commercial and risk management issues
  • Procurement activities
  • Preparing and coordinating Ministerial briefings and cabinet submissions
  • Interfacing with external legal advisors to ensure consistent approach
  • Draft contractual documentation

This is a 3-year fixed term position, paying a salary between $124,033 and $165,983 + superannuation. People that enjoy working from both the office and from home have the option to access our hybrid working arrangements.

About you

You're a legal specialist, with specific expertise working on major projects within the property, planning and/or environment space. You might be working within a private practice and you're interested in moving to an in-house position, or you may be working in-house for another organisation and want to make the jump over to work with us here at LXRP!

Getting technical – here are some experience, qualifications and qualities we are looking for:

  • Admitted, or eligible to be admitted, as a legal practitioner to the Supreme Court of Victoria (or similar).
  • A sound awareness of current and emerging best practice in the procurement and legal fields here in Australia.
  • Ability to plan, prioritise and be adaptable – things change here at LXRP all the time, which keeps things exciting but also means that you may need to re-priotise from time to time at short notice.
  • Be able to solve complex problems, and have the confidence to make strategic decisions.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
