What You Will Be Doing

The Professor of Nursing or Midwifery is a key joint appointment that will provide visionary, strategic and research leadership in the academic, professional and political arenas, positioning Peninsula Health and Monash University Nursing and Midwifery for the future, progressing programs, research and community engagement.

In this role you will develop and implement a framework to build a research program that builds capacity in nursing and midwifery research practice and create pathways for nurses and midwives to become leaders in their fields of practice. This position will require you to support collaborative partnerships, contribute to teaching and learning programs plus travel to other campuses of the health service and university.

This position will be of a five-year limited term, with flexible option to work 0.8 to 1EFT.

What You Need

We anticipate you will have:
• A doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline, or equivalent accreditation and standing, together with subsequent research experience and is recognised as a leading authority in the area of research and/or scholarship.
• Hold current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse or Registered Midwife
• Evidence of a strong personal program of research with outstanding scholarly activity of an international standard in nursing or midwifery and a demonstrated ongoing commitment to one or more programs of research.
• Record of successful supervision of graduate research students and the ability to make a significant contribution to graduate training programs in nursing or midwifery.
• Evidence of effective engagement with affiliated hospitals, research institutes and/or external agencies as a representative of the school.
• Familiarity with the Australian health care system (desirable)
