About the role

The Program Director Ambulatory care is responsible for the operational leadership and strategic development of ambulatory care services across Grampians health. These include; Specialist outpatient clinics (Medical, Allied Health & Nursing), MBS funded services, General Practices and subacute ambulatory care services. Working closely with the Clinical leads, the role ensures that there are effective support services to ensure consumers across the region have access to high quality clinical care.

Key Responsibilities

  • The leadership, management and support to the ambulatory care managers and services across Grampians Health
  • Ensuring that ambulatory care services are aligned with the goals, values and activities of Grampians Health
  • Overall accountability for operational service delivery and administrative processes in relation to referral management, waiting list management, patient scheduling and communication, clinical support services and ensuring that services are compliant with relevant funding guidelines
  • Responsible for human resources management, financial management and delivery of key performance indicators
  • Lead improving care and service redesign initiatives in line with Grampians Health strategic and clinical services plans
  • The facilitation of a positive workplace culture and workforce engagement
  • Taking a lead role in strategy, including the leadership of specific projects, portfolios or service development, or representing Ambulatory care on committees as required
  • Working in close collaboration with program leaders to contribute to decision making in corporate and clinical governance, operational and financial management

You will have:

Qualifications and experience

  • Post-graduate Qualification in relevant field such as business/leadership/management, or a commitment to work towards the same
  • Experience as a senior leader in health, particularly in ambulatory care services

Technical/Professional Knowledge and Skills

  • A high level of understanding of the applicable Department of Health and Commonwealth policies and funding guidelines
  • Demonstrated understanding of contemporary issues affecting ambulatory care
  • Knowledge of the interpretation and application of industrial matters pertaining to the ambulatory care workforce
  • Proven track record in leading high-performance teams and driving a positive workplace culture
  • Demonstrated ability to lead innovation and service development initiatives to a successful outcome
  • Demonstrated experience in financial management, delivery on key performance indicators and ability to meet agreed goals and timeframes in a rapidly changing environment
