Are you interested in contributing to the largest change to natural resource management in Victoria since colonisation? The State of Victoria has signed Recognition and Settlement Agreements with Victorian Traditional Owners, which transfer power and resources to Traditional Owners to influence and control management of public lands.

This role contributes to the operation of the Taungurung Recognition and Settlement Agreement, and supports DELWP in meeting its commitments under the Agreement. Importantly this role also plays an important part in building and maintaining a long term partnering relationship with Taungurung Land and Waters Council.

If you are good with processes, comfortable with complex work and interested in how Traditional Owners and the Victorian Government work together to manage natural resources, we'ed love to hear from you. You don't need experience working with Traditional Owners to apply for this role, you'll learn that by doing!

Please note this is a 12 month maternity back fill role.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Traditional Owners and land management, including natural resource management, policy and/or program delivery, particularly as it relates to the Traditional Owner Settlement Act 2010 is desirable.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, particularly those affecting the Aboriginal people of Victoria is desirable.

This is a fixed term position available for a period of 12 months. The location of this position is negotiable within the Hume Region.
