We are looking for an adaptable Project Officer with excellent written communication and organisational skills to join the Innovation Unit within Commercial Services.

In this 12-month fixed-term position, you will provide project support to project leads within the Innovation Unit on a range of projects within Corrections and Justice Services aimed at monitoring and improving service delivery across Corrections Victoria.

About us

Commercial Services provides various Department of Justice and Community Services groups with strategic commercial/contract management advice, services relating to significant commercial projects, and manages the operational performance monitoring and reporting for the Corrections and Justice Services (CJS) Group's service delivery business units.

The Innovation Unit sits within Commercial Services and undertakes projects that seek to reduce demand across the criminal justice system and/or introduce best practice to drive efficiency and social outcomes.

About the role

The Project Officer role delivers a range of activities to provide support to project leads within the Unit, including investigating business improvement opportunities across the correctional system, preparing documents, undertaking research and analysing data. A strong focus of the role is assisting and supporting project leads on business improvement opportunities including reviewing business efficiency, process improvements and qualitative reporting in line with correctional objectives and frameworks.

In this varied role, you may be conducting data or financial analysis, participating in stakeholder consultation processes, assisting and developing project scope and documents, provide briefings, undertake report writings and administration for identified major business improvement projects.

This role is based in the Melbourne CBD, however work from home arrangements are currently in place.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will able to:

  • Provide support to project leads.
  • Prepare a range of documents which are clear, provide concise and relevant information, and meet the needs of the target audience, including project documentation, briefings and reports.
  • Undertake research and analysis to understand complex issues and identify potential solutions.
  • Liaise with a range of stakeholders, including senior managers, location staff, other departments, and external stakeholders, to gather information and provide advice and assistance.
