The role includes working on the budget strategy for the Department's school capital works and maintenance programs, the development of project costs for specific school upgrade projects, and the preparation of advice for the Department's senior executive and the Minister for Education.

Project Officer - Full Time  - Fixed Term - 24 months - X2 Positions 

Two Project Officer roles are being advertised to work within the Victorian School Building Authority's Asset Planning Unit.

The Asset Planning Unit is a small but high-performing team that provides influential advice to government on maintaining and upgrading existing schools, and investing in new schools.

The role of the Project Officer in Asset Planning is to provide influential advice across the various aspects of school infrastructure funding and investment options. These roles include:

  • Undertaking analysis on specific schools to identify opportunities for future infrastructure projects,
  • Undertaking costings for school infrastructure projects based on agreed standards and assumptions,
  • Assisting in the coordination and development of school infrastructure project costings,
  • Providing advice and support to school leadership to deliver their capital works and maintenance projects,
  • Promoting and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders within the Authority and across the Department,
  • Drafting briefings, correspondence and parliamentary documentation,
  • Responding to requests for information from the Minister's Office and Executive team of the Victorian School Building Authority,
  • Providing administrative support to the Asset Planning Unit as necessary

The successful applicants will have strong conceptual and analytical ability, advanced MS Excel skills, and the ability to write concise and influential briefing papers for government.
