POSITION SUMMARY:

Project Officer - Aboriginal Strategy & Oversight

As an entry level position into the branch, the Project Officer plays a role in cross-department and government collaboration to advance Aboriginal self-determination.

You will contribute to policy and research that ensures policy priorities and projects are aligned with broader governmental reforms. You will also contribute to a dynamic, innovative branch that translates Aboriginal community aspirations into public policy and project design through innovative evidence-based research.

The Oversight team is characterised by dynamic thinking and is known for sharpening the policy narrative to profile the voice of Aboriginal people. It is responsible for work that is both high impact and high quality. Oversight plays a leading role in cross-department and government collaboration to advance Aboriginal self-determination in both policy design and reporting.

We lead project delivery through multidisciplinary teams; advisory and rapid support on projects; and leadership across Aboriginal strategy and program delivery. We create opportunities for Aboriginal Victorians who experience vulnerability to be central to decision-making that informs their health, wellbeing and safety experiences and improve their life outcomes.

We are responsible for ensuring Aboriginal voice and person-centred approaches are pursued and include Aboriginal clients (voice of lived experience), stakeholders (voice of intent) and partners (voice of expertise).

Only Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People are eligible to apply as this position is exempt under the SPECIAL MEASURES PROVISION of S12(1) of the Equal Opportunity Act (VIC).
