The position of Project Officer - Administration forms a part of the Resources branch within the Rural and Regional Victoria group. 

The Rural and Regional Victoria Group works with local businesses and communities to build a stronger economy and better future for rural and regional Victorians. Incorporating Regional Development Victoria, Resources branch and the Latrobe Valley Authority, with an overarching Rural and Regional Strategy branch, the group has employees throughout the Melbourne CBD and rural and regional Victoria.  Our group ensures rural and regional communities are vibrant, thriving and inclusive. We do this by working with business and communities to develop policies and programs that target job creation, infrastructure, regional planning, population and investment attraction. 

The Resources Branch develops policy, programs and regulation to enable investment and generate jobs through the sustainable development of the State's earth resources, including extractives, minerals and petroleum.  The branches core activities include:   

  • Acquiring and providing access to high quality geoscience data and knowledge to inform government decision making and attract new investment to the State;  
  • Developing and delivering legislative and regulatory reforms in the earth resources sector to improve outcomes for all stakeholders;  
  • Supporting investment in resources and low emission technologies that fosters innovation, productivity, jobs and trade in the State's earth resources sector;  
  • Strategic resource and related land use planning to identify new opportunities for Victoria's earth resources and support major infrastructure development;  

Regulating the earth resources sector through transparent, consistent and timely regulatory processes that provide industry with confidence to invest and have regard to the needs of communities.

The Project Officer - Administration will provide executive and administrative support to the Executive Director, Earth Resources Policy and Programs, Resources Branch. The position provides support to project teams within Earth Resources Policy and Programs including the coordination and delivery of events, activities and reports and coordination of meetings and diary management. The position is also responsible for managing the governance process for the Latrobe Valley Regional Rehabilitation Strategy, a key work program within the unit.  Key accountabilities include: 

  • Support the Executive Director, Earth Resources Policy and Programs in the delivery of a range of projects, events, activities and reports including the coordination of meetings and diary management and supporting the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives across the branch. 
  • Manage administrative functions for Earth Resources Policy and Programs project teams including travel coordination, personal expense claims, corporate card acquittals and logistical arrangements for meetings and events  
  • Prepare clear and concise emails, memoranda, briefs, correspondence and other documentation to a high standard and act as coordinator for all briefs and correspondence. 
  • Liaise with a wide range of senior managers, stakeholders and departmental staff regarding a range of sensitive matters. 
  • Manage governance processes for the Latrobe Valley Regional Rehabilitation Strategy team including preparing governance papers and reports, agendas and action items.  
  • Management of information management and record keeping systems to ensure compliance with departmental policies.
