The position of Project Officer, Legislative Compliance and Delegations forms a part of the People and Culture Branch within the Corporate Services Group.

People and Culture is a multi-disciplinary team which operates within the Corporate Services Group of DJPR. It is a strategic, tactical and operational function, supporting the achievement of the department's objectives by providing excellent service and trusted advice. It has a clear focus on adding value to the department by supporting the Executive Board to drive DJPR's organisational culture through a range of strategies and initiatives.

Reporting to the Change and Communications Lead - Integrity, this Project Officer role is responsible for supporting the delivery and implementation of the department's Compliance and Delegations Framework. As a member of the Integrity Services team, the successful applicant will work within a dynamic team, liaising with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered using appropriate governance procedures and evidence-based decision making.

The Project Officer will also contribute to and support the department's integrity-based compliance and governance capability particularly in relation to delegations and its record keeping, advisory practices with respect to legislative compliance, and the administration and oversight of compliance obligations. The successful candidate will have demonstrated, hands-on experience with corporate governance, compliance or equivalent projects and a proven track record of engaging with stakeholders at various levels.

The key accountabilities of the role are:

  • Working collaboratively with key stakeholders, support the implementation of policies and procedures established by the obligations (legislative or policy mandated) that regulate the Department, incorporating learnings from the pilot program currently underway.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of improved governance arrangements to support robust and transparent decision-making and operational practices across the Department.  Working collaboratively with key stakeholders and the Change and Communications Lead, review and implement the governance framework for the Department's delegations of authority (non-financial and human resources related delegations).
  • Provide regular updates and status reports to the Project Control Board, Executive Management and other internal stakeholders; make adjustments to the project plan and supporting governance documentation, policies and procedures as required.
  • Coordinate the implementation of a centralised monitoring system and attestation program for relevant staff supported by training, communications, and mechanisms for reporting on compliance and delegation obligations.
  • Support the Change and Communications Lead in ensuring the Framework and supporting policies/procedures are reflected in the policy review schedule to ensure regular review and continual improvement; undertake policy review activities as required.
  • Conduct and manage regular spot audit processes to support ongoing compliance and report on findings to relevant Executive Management.
