About the Psychiatric Consultation Liaison Nurse (PCLN) Role

The PCLN provides expert clinical nursing support as a member of the C-L Psychiatry Service. This includes provision of specialist mental health nursing consultation to Peter Mac staff, including nurse practitioners, care co-ordinators, ward-, recovery-, and outpatient nursing staff, and other members of the health workforce. In addition, the PCLN coordinates mental health nursing intervention for inpatients requiring this.

The PCLN develops and delivers relevant education to non-psychiatric Peter Mac nursing staff about psychiatric conditions, and appropriate mental health care of patients.
