An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic and highly experienced Psychiatrist to join our Endocrinology Department and TGD Health Initiative based off campus at PANCH in Preston.

The Endocrine Centre of Excellence is responsible for the provision of services within the speciality, to patients across the medical field. The unit is committed to the provision of high quality patient care and maintains an ongoing commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. Research is a pivotal part of the department and is involved in a number of studies with collaborators nationally and internationally.

The TGD Health Initiative brings together four of Victoria’s key health and wellbeing organisations in a consortium that is guided by the trans and gender diverse (TGD) community, to deliver the two components of the TGD Health Initiative:

  • a state-wide workforce skills and training program; and

  • new multidisciplinary sessional clinics in Preston and Ballarat.

The TGD Health Initiative is to be delivered by the Trans and Gender Diverse in Community Health Consortium (TGDiCH)

comprising Your Community Health (lead agency), Ballarat Community Health Service, Austin Health and Thorne Harbour Health.

Details of the Position:

  • Hours per week: 3.5 hours per fortnight ( Friday morning)

  • Employment Status:  Fixed Term Part-time

  • Appointment Period: Commencing 29 January 2021 until 2 July 2023 with the possibility of extending if funding permits.

The Consultant Psychiatrist will be expected to provide high level Psychiatry services within their approved scope of clinical practice as part of the Endocrinology team at Austin Health.  The focus of this role will be the provision of care at an off-site clinic for patients who identify as Trans or Gender Diverse (TGD).

To be successful for this role you must:

  • Provide comprehensive management of outpatients

  • Provide a consultative service to other Units as required

  • Have experience working with trans and gender diverse people

  • Have experience in using gender affirming hormones

  • Have experience in educating staff in gender affirming care

  • Be a registered Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

  • Hold a Fellowship of the RANZCP, or equivalent
