What You Will Be Doing

The Access and Assessment Team (AAT) is a multidisciplinary community based team providing an assertive comprehensive Assessment and Brief Intervention service. The brief intervention component aims to provide the necessary psychological support to clients so that they can cope and recover from their episode of mental illness or crisis in an effective way and prevent further mental health deterioration, including responding appropriately to suicide and self-harm risk.
As a member of the multidisciplinary team your skills will be utilised to provides time-limited, individual psychological assessment, formulation and treatment. There will be opportunities to carry out structured psychological assessments (including PAI and SCID-5) and short-term interventions drawing upon a range of therapeutic models (and including cognitive and psychodynamic orientations). The psychologist will work alongside Assessment and Brief Intervention clinicians to support therapeutic interventions, including supervising the delivery of short-term skill based interventions such as the Emotional Regulation Impulse Control (ERIC) and CARE: Relational Coping Skills in Crisis workbooks.

The psychologist will be part of a small but supportive and developing number of psychologists across the mental health service. Psychologists seeking endorsement are encouraged to apply and will have access to individual supervision from a senior clinical psychologist and a facilitated group for registrars, that supports the endorsement process.

What You Need

We anticipate you will have:
• General Registration as a psychologist with AHPRA
• Experience in a mental health, or equivalent, setting
• Experience in developing psychological formulations, drawing on a range of theories and models
• Experience in delivering psychological interventions, drawing on a range of models
