About the role:

Victoria Police is commencing a project to re-design the Mess Dress which will form part of the General Duties Uniform (GDU) Project. The significance of this project demands experienced, talented and professionally qualified applicants capable of investigation and working through challenging and complex issues and ultimate delivery of the project's objectives.

The VPS5 Quality Manager will manage the Quality Assurance Office, and provide specialist advice in technical product specifications for procurement activities associated with uniform and equipment items. The role will have extensive knowledge of quality management systems and implement continuous improvement practices; and actively practice quality assurance issues.

Your duties will include:

  • Leading a small quality management project team.
  • Business initiatives under limited direction, ensuring quality objectives are met.
  • Establish working schedules to manage and prioritise work.
  • Collaborating with subject matter experts in the Equipment and Uniform area.
  • Assess market capability against functional requirements and standards.
  • Develop investigative studies and develop high level reports based on analytical results.
  • Provide specialist advice and solutions on quality issues to internal and external stakeholders.

As the successful applicant, you will have: 

  • Well-developed analytical, conceptual, communication and interpersonal skills with experience and ability to produce complex written reports and advice to the Senior Management Team.
  • The ability to develop and maintain close engagement with all areas of the Logistics and Equipment Division and external stakeholders. 
  • Demonstrated experience in development and successful implementation of organisational change, risk management methods and strategies.
  • A proven ability to monitor client and stakeholder satisfaction, and constructively manage stakeholder issues to ensure positive outcomes.
  • Extensive knowledge in quality management systems.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and performing product evaluations.
  • Extensive knowledge of the public sector procurement legislation, frameworks, policy and practice.

Requirements and relevant information:

  • One full time, fixed term position (until 30/06/2022) available.
  • Salary range is $101,120 - $122,348 p.a. plus superannuation.
  • Position located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification would be highly desirable
  • Experience in Quality Management System ISO 9001:2015 and Internal Auditing ISO 19011:2018
