About Us

Monash BreastScreen is the largest Reading and Assessment Service (RAS) in Victoria. It provides screening, reading and assessment services for approximately 60,500 women per year in the South Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula. The RAS is located at Moorabbin Hospital. There are seven fixed screening sites plus a mobile screening service that visits 2 locations in the catchment. In 2019 2,824 women were recalled to the Assessment Clinic.

About The Role 

The position is primarily with Monash BreastScreen screening and assessment. The role may require working and travelling to any Monash BreastScreen site to cover screening. It will involve all aspects of screening and assessment work with a focus to provide consistent high quality imaging and service delivery at Monash BreastScreen or any other BreastScreen Screening Centres located across Victoria. The primary work location for this position is the screening sites located at Casey Hospital, Moorabbin and Waverley in addition to Moorabbin Hospital, Monash Medical Centre. All radiographers at Monash BreastScreen may be required to travel to work at any one of the screening sites to ensure screening is maintained.

About You

The position requires a person with commitment to detail, maintaining quality and to the timely completion of tasks in the radiography areas of both Monash BreastScreen Assessment Centre and Screening sites. The ability to work to tight deadlines and to work cooperatively with all staff is essential.

What You Need:

• High quality technical skills, experience in mammography and interested in teaching and training essential. Training qualification and experience highly desirable


• Able to demonstrate best practice in all aspects of breast imaging


• Good communication skills, and sensitivity to women presenting for mammography, demonstrated by a paramount concern for those women


• Good working knowledge and understanding of the State and Federal requirements for operating a breast cancer Screening Program and able to interpret those requirements for others


• Hold a Statement of Compliance issued by the Australian Institute of Radiography (AIR) and be participating in a continuing professional development program (CPD)


• Hold current registration with APHRA


• Hold a Victorian Medical Radiation Board licence


• Previous experience in breast imaging an advantage


• Be eligible for the ASMIRT Certificate of Clinic Proficiency in Mammography (CCPM) or be prepared to undertake ASMIRT accredited CCPM training, ideally within 12 months of commencing employment in the program (NAS Appendix)
