Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across 3 campuses in the northeast of Melbourne and state-wide. Austin Health is world-renowned for its research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation.


An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic Cardiothoracic Radiology Fellow to join our Radiology Department from February 2022.


Details of Department


Austin Health has three campuses, the Austin Campus, the Repatriation Campus and the Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre. Radiology services are provided by the Department of Radiology for both the Austin and Repat sites.


The Department comprises 14 full-time Staff Radiologists, including 8 Interventional Radiologists, 4 Visiting Radiologists and 17 Radiology Registrars/Fellows.


Most radiology sub-specialities, with the exception of obstetrics and paediatrics are provided. Surgical specialities at the Austin include thoracics, cardiac, neurosurgery, hepatobiliary, orthopaedic, ENT, ophthalmology and vascular. The Austin is a statewide referral centre for liver transplantation and spinal injuries. The hospital has a large Neurology Department, with particular expertise in stroke and epilepsy, and a large Oncology department.


Details of position/position requirements


This fellowship position aims to provide a unique opportunity for the candidate to develop subspecialty skills in Cardiothoracic Imaging. This encompasses imaging skills in all facets of Cardiac and Thoracic imaging, including coronary artery disease, transcutaneous aortic valve implantation planning, infiltrative myocardial disease, cancers of the lung and mediastinum, and respiratory conditions including interstitial lung disease. Experience with predominantly Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging will be gained, with correlation to other modalities including Positron Emission Tomography, plain film, ultrasound, Echocardiography and Catheter Angiography.

  • Have Medical Registration In the State of Victoria

  • Have passed the Part II exam of the RANZCR or equivalent
