About the branch

The Operations Directorate is responsible for the delivery of initiatives, programs and services. On-ground works and services will conserve environments, protect culture and heritage, manage visitor facilities and improve opportunities and support fire and emergency management. The Directorate resources will support environmental, social and economic outcomes for rural, regional and urban communities.

Each region consists of a diverse range of parks and reserves.  Staff working within the Region are responsible for providing efficient and effective implementation of a broad range of often complex park management functions including natural, cultural and built asset management, visitor management and services, stakeholder management, park planning and emergency response.

About the role and your responsibilities

As a Ranger based at You Yang's, the primary focus of your position is to plan for, and deliver, in park services as directed by the Ranger Team Leader to enable efficient and effective delivery at a district level in accordance with the District Action Plan. You will undertake activities requiring a level of environmental and natural resource service expertise in on ground service delivery.

In this role, you will deliver in parks services across the district with a focus on environmental maintenance to agreed quality standards. The Ranger will demonstrate a strong personal work ethic and will be accountable for personal performance as well as actively participate in a team environment. You will be adaptable and flexible to on the ground service requirements in order to ensure superior park management services are always achieved.

To be successful for this role you will need: 

  • A tertiary qualification in Certificate or Diploma in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management and/or equivalent experience in a similar field is preferable.
  • Demonstrated experience in self-management and supervisory skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A current employee Working with Children Check
