About the role and your responsibilities:  

As the Ranger Team Leader, you will lead a team of staff to deliver high quality services in line with the Regional Operations Plan, with support and under the direction of the Area Chief Ranger. You will work as a key member of the Area team in delivering on-ground services. You will monitor work practices and with support from the Area Chief Ranger, you will ensure compliance with relevant specifications such as Parks Victoria's policies and procedures.

You will demonstrate a strong personal work ethic for team members to follow and ensure that District employees maintain a high standard of personal accountability and compliance with the Code of Conduct. You are responsible for guiding the team, to inspire enthusiasm, to ensure their safety and welfare and to ensure they are appreciated for their efforts. You will be responsible for ‘hands on' people management which includes supporting and developing the team which may include ongoing employees, contractors, casuals, temporary staff and/or volunteers. You will also be responsible for developing and delivering team plans and works programs pertaining to operational services.

We're looking for someone with:

  • Experience in leadership, performance management and managing a team day to day
  • Strong customer service focus both internally and externally
  • Stakeholder management and engagement skills across a range of land management matters
  • A current employee Working with Children Check before commencing employment with us

About the branch:

The Operations Directorate is responsible for the delivery of initiatives, programs and services. On-ground works and services will conserve environments, protect culture and heritage, manage visitor facilities and improve opportunities and support fire and emergency management. The Directorate resources will support environmental, social and economic outcomes for rural, regional and urban communities. Services will be delivered within the demands of the Directorate's Statewide fire and emergency role and in partnership with the community and other government agencies.
