We have opportunities for suitably qualified, experienced and passionate Registered and Enrolled Psychiatric Nurses:

• Maroondah Hospital, Inpatient Units 1 and 2 (each is a 25 bed inpatient unit for short to medium term support and both have a 5 bed high dependency unit)


• Peter James Centre, South Ward (a 30 bed inpatient unit for people aged 65 and above)


• Box Hill Hospital, Upton House (a 25 bed inpatient unit for short to medium term support and has a 5 bed intensive care area (ICA))


• 1 East, Box Hill Hospital (a 17 bed inpatient unit for people withdrawing from alcohol and other drugs, and those experiencing mental illness)


• Mental health nurse pool (work across the above acute adult inpatient units)

Each of the above units has facilities that include sensory rooms, quiet leafy courtyards and gardens, and gender sensitive areas for female patients.

About Acute Adult Inpatient Services

At Eastern Health, our acute adult inpatient services support adults aged 18-64. Our acute aged persons’ mental health unit at Peter James in East Burwood provides care for people aged 65 and above. We strive to provide a calming environment with quiet spaces and sunny, leafy courtyards for our patients. We work closely with allied health professionals to facilitate individualised treatment plans for our patients. Our staff and leadership teams are passionate about providing excellent patient-centred care and embrace the Safewards Model. We also work to the Clinical Risk Assessment and Management (CRAM) policy and standards.

About the Role

As a psychiatric nurse within Eastern Health, you will be responsible for supporting patients, providing holistic care for them and their families. You will deliver patient-centred care with a focus on an ongoing continuum of care and recovery.  You will have the opportunity to undertake regular professional development with study days and our extensive online learning platform.

• Ability to work independently and be team focused


• Current registration with AHPRA 


• Post Graduate qualifications in mental health nursing will be highly regarded


• Highly developed interpersonal and leadership experience


• A strong commitment to high quality care


• The ability to work as part of a diverse team


• Excellent communication and organisational skills
