9 West is a dynamic and progressive 16-bed ward operational over 7 days per week, 24 hours per day and is aimed at improving the patient flow and experience by enabling patients to have their surgery and post op care on the one site. The Ward is a High-Volume Short Stay surgical area which caters for a diverse range of surgery e.g. Orthopaedic, Urology, Plastics, Endoscopy, General Surgery and Emergency surgery requiring 1 or 2 nights stay. The ward’s primary role is to enable both elective patients and emergency patients to receive their surgery in a timely manner in a safe environment.
About the role:
As an Austin Health Nurse you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of evidence-based nursing care in designated medical specialties, in order to optimize health outcomes for the community.
Key responsibilities will see you:
Support a philosophy of care, which is patient focused, from admission to discharge, and where the family is welcome in the carers team
Ensure the well-being and safety of patients by following the values and principles, which underpin best practice in relation to patient care, education and patient rights
Achieve and maintain the skills necessary, through personal professional development, to plan, prioritize and implement holistic patient care

You’ll further have:
Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse registration
