This is a Great opportunity for midwives wanting to advance their midwifery skills.


To be Successful in this Role you:



  • Will need to have experience caring for women across the continuum of maternity care

Scrub / Scout – Sunshine Theatre – Discovery Program
Western Health would like to offer nurses interested in working in perioperative nursing, the exciting opportunity to participate in our Discovery Program – Scrub/Scout. The Theatre Discovery Program is a 6 month fixed term program commencing in late March.


During your time with us, we will offer you:



  • Two supernumerary weeks with support provided by clinical nurse educators and preceptors

  • Tailored study days to provide foundational knowledge of Theatre nursing.


Successful program completion will provide RPL credits and pathways into Postgraduate studies.

Registered Nurse - 1F Integrated Care Hub
The Integrated Care Hub team are looking for enthusiastic and experienced Registered Nurses to join our team. We have 2 full time positions available.


The Integrated Care Hub is a dynamic new clinical space which hosts a multidisciplinary team including Nephrology and Endocrinology Rapid Access Clinics, Kidney Care and Transplantation clinics, Diabetes Nurse Educators, Chronic Wound Service and RACER.
RACER predominantly reviews Heart Failure patients post-acute ward discharge in order promote best care and prevent Emergency Department presentations. 
The Integrated Care Hub will also host the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander outpatient Clinic from February 2021.


ABOUT YOU



  • Successful completion of Bachelor of Nursing

  • Current registration with AHPRA

  • Minimum 3 years (YP5) working experience within an Australian hospital setting- not including undergraduate university placements.

  • Ability to work a rotating roster

  • Ability to work autonomously and manage own workload (essential)

  • Accredited to perform IV Cannulation within Western Health organisation (essential)

  • Previous experience caring / managing patients with complex comorbidities especially heart failure (desirable)

  • An understanding of how to access / refer to relevant WH and external community services (desirable)

  • Ability to obtain Arterial Blood Gases (desirable)

  • NB- Due to ongoing service development and innovation there is potential for the roles and responsibilities attached to this role to change and the incumbent may need to flex or rotate to other nursing roles within the Chronic and Complex Care Division as required

Registered Nurse – Radiology
The Medical Imaging Department aims to provide excellence in diagnostic and interventional imaging services including education, training and development to the staff and patients of Western Health. The Medical Imaging Department operates Monday–Friday 0830-1700 hours and provides emergency imaging services 24/7. The Department consists of many disciplines including the dedicated nursing and ancillary staff comprising the radiographers, clerical staff, clinical assistants, Radiology Registrars and Radiologists.


This is a permanent part time position of 56 hours per fortnight. Successful applicant will be contracted for a year in Medical Imaging to cover maternity leave, then ongoing permanent part time position employment within Western Health will be offered. The successful applicant should have a keen interest in Radiology nursing or desire to learn. Prior experience in Medical Imaging, Day Procedure Unit or Theatre/Recovery is highly desirable. On the job training will be provided. The Successful candidate will work in an Imaging/Radiation environment and Full PPE and radiation safety training will be provided.


Medical Imaging provides a comprehensive range of diagnostic services including:



  • CT

  • X-Ray

  • Fluoroscopy

  • Angiography

  • Ultrasound

  • Mammography

  • MRI

  • Nuclear Medicine


To be Successful in this Role you



  • Have prior experience in Medical Imaging, Interventional Radiology, Day Procedure Unit or Theatre/Recovery.

  • Have prior experience in Medical/Surgical nursing.

  • Can work autonomously within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Ability to work with a non-restrictive roster to cover different modalities of Medical Imaging including Pre- Admission Clinic and on call/recall.

Cath Lab – Critical Care Nurse


Western Cardiac Cath labs are some of the busiest in Melbourne offering acute and elective coronary intervention and electrophysiology services. We also provide a 24 hour on call service for acute myocardial infarct patients.


We have a passion for research and strive for use of current therapies to provide best care and pioneered a 24/7 cardiogenic shock programme in 2019 making us the first in Victoria to use the Impella cardiac pump device for this purpose. The department is supported by both Coronary and Intensive care units and a Cardiac diagnostic unit.
