Adult Specialist Clinic (ASC) located at Footscray is seeking a Registered Nurse with outstanding clinical and interpersonal ability to further strengthen our team who is also highly motivated and caring.  This positon is Permanent Full Time, Monday to Friday with the ability to be rostered on 4 different shift form 8.00am – 6.00pm.

The Adult Specialist Clinics (ASC) at Western Health provide expert review and management for patients requiring consultation by specialist clinicians. The Specialist Clinic setting acts as a conduit for patients accessing services at Western Health and provides care and ongoing management and ensures referral and communication pathways are in place to optimize the patient journey. Service delivery is provided across the patient continuum of care by the Specialist Clinics Nursing, Referral Management and Patient Management Teams.

 The objective of the Specialist Clinics coordinated team approach is to improve patient access and processes - in essence this equates to “right patient, right clinic, right time”.

Ward 2A Sunshine Hospital operates 36 beds for patients requiring Acute Aged Care. The unit operates an inter professional practice model in partnership with geriatric medicine, nursing, allied health, ancillary services and our volunteer team. Ward 2A has a strong interface with the Emergency Department and many speciality areas.

The Medical Imaging Department aims to provide excellence in diagnostic and interventional imaging services including education, training and development to the staff and patients of Western Health. The Medical Imaging Department operates Monday–Friday 0830-1700 hours and provides emergency imaging services 24/7. The Department consists of many disciplines including the dedicated nursing and ancillary staff comprising the radiographers, clerical staff, clinical assistants, Radiology Registrars and Radiologists.

The successful applicant should have a keen interest in Radiology nursing or desire to learn. Prior experience in Medical Imaging, Day Procedure Unit or Theatre/Recovery is highly desirable. On the job training will be provided. The Successful candidate will work in an Imaging/Radiation environment and Full PPE and radiation safety training will be provided.

To be Successful in this Role you

  • Have prior experience in Medical Imaging, Interventional Radiology, Day Procedure Unit or Theatre/Recovery.

  • Have prior experience in Medical/Surgical nursing.

  • Can work autonomously within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Highly developed interpersonal/communication skills.

  • Ability to work with a non-restrictive roster to cover different modalities of Medical Imaging including Pre- Admission Clinic and on call/recall.

Registered Nurse – West Metro Graduate Transition Program

Would you like to participate in a program that will support you to transition to work within a hospital setting? 

West Metro Health Services are partnering to offer a formal program to facilitate the transition of newly graduated and early career nurses into the profession and to optimise preparation for ongoing work within the acute care setting.   The program will include work within Covid Vaccination Hubs and a rotation into inpatient clinical settings at one of the West Metro Health Services.

Western Health will be coordinating the program with the majority of rotations occurring across Western Health sites, other Metro Health Services facilitating rotations include Royal Melbourne Hospital, Royal Children’s Hospital, Royal Women’s Hospital and Mercy Werribee.

The program will be facilitated by a dedicated Graduate Coordinator linked with site clinical educators supporting your learning and identifying your education needs.  Each program participant will rotate into inpatient clinical settings for 4 - 6 months with program intake commencing 6 September 2021.  The employment contract on offer is 64 hrs a fortnight for a fixed term to end July 2022.  On successful completion of the program, you will have the opportunity to apply for permanent positions or transition to an ongoing casual contract with Western Health nurse bank.

To be eligible for this program, the following selection criteria needs to be met:

  • hold current registration as Registered Nurse with NMBA

  • have limited or no experience working in an acute care setting

  • have less than 3 years’ experience working as a Registered Nurse

  • have commitment to a 7 day rotating roster contracted to 64hrs a fortnight

The Chemotherapy Day Unit (CDU) is looking for experienced and enthusiastic Oncology Trained Registered Nurses on a casual basis (BANK).  The CDU operates from Monday to Friday from 0800-1730. The treatment area includes 15 chemotherapy chairs and a procedure room with 2 recovery bays for oncology related invasive procedures.

To be successful for this role you must meet the following:

•             Experience in IVC/CVAD/chemo is essential for this role

•             Chemotherapy competency (eviQ 8 x ADAC modules preferred)

•             Experience administering chemotherapy
