Continence Nurse - Women's Health Clinics

The Women’s is a tertiary referral center for women with complex needs. The outpatient service accommodates a number of specialist clinics such as gynaecology, abortion and contraception, urogynaecology, menopause, vulva/dermatology, menopause symptoms after cancer clinics, breast, oncology, early pregnancy advisory service, chronic pelvic pain clinic and colposcopy.

Your contribution  

The Pelvic Floor Unit Nurses operate within the Women’s Health Clinics. The Pelvic Floor Unit provides tertiary care to women who experience problems with bladder dysfunction (urinary leakage, voiding difficulty), vaginal dysfunction (prolapse of the uterus and vagina), lower bowel dysfunction, the postpartum management of 3rd and 4th degree tears. Nurse run clinics include continence assessment, continence management, Pessary clinic and urodynamics clinic. The successful applicant will be a team member of a multidisciplinary team comprising of Continence Nurses, Urogynaecologists, Gynaecologists, Colorectal Surgeon, Specialist Doctors in training, Dieticians and Physiotherapists

  • Demonstrated understanding of continence/promotion

  • Ability to perform and/or learn urodynamics procedure

  • Ability to assist with outpatient cystoscopy

  • Ability to work in nurse run pessary clinic

  • Provide nursing support within Women’s Health and other outpatient services within the Outpatients department.

About you

To be successful within this role you will need to have:

  • Registered Division 1 Nurse with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

  • 2+ years of experience working within Women's Health and/or gynaecological care

  • Have or working towards, post graduate nursing studies in urology and continence.

  • Skills in continence information

  • Current knowledge and clinical experience incontinence assessment and management sessions for patients undergoing conservative management.

  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement

Please be aware that in line with the Health Minister's Covid-19 Mandatory Vaccination Order, all workers at the Women's regardless of role, will be required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or hold an acceptable medical exemption.

If you were fully vaccinated (two doses) before the 12th of September 2021, you will also be required to provide evidence of having received a booster by the 12th of February 2022. If you received your second dose after the 12th of September 2021 and are not yet eligible to receive your booster, you will be required to show evidence of having received it by the 29th of March 2022.
