Registered Nurse – Emergency Department

An exciting opportunity has become available for a caring, motivated and enthusiastic Registered Nurses to join the team with in the Emergency Department at Sunshine.  Our Emergency Nurses have a strong clinical understanding and the ability to collaborate effectively with an inter-professional team to ensure that patient’s receive the highest quality care when facing potentially life-threatening conditions. You will be supported by experienced Clinical Nurse Educators and Clinical Nurse Instructors who provide clinical education and supervision in this unit 7 days a week.

Sunshine Emergency Department is an Adult Emergency Department, which also includes a Short Stay Unit. Sunshine Hospital provides a variety of medical and surgical services. Some of the surgical services provided include Interventional Radiology, Orthopaedic, Thoracic, Neuro, ENT, Colorectal, Urology and General Surgery.

To be successful for this role you will have:

  • Current AHPRA Registration as a Registered Nurse
  • Recent acute care experience in a Hospital setting
  • Critical thinking abilities, prioritisation and communication skills, whilst effectively following directions
  • A Post Graduate in Emergency or Critical Care Nursing is Highly desirable
  • Possess a strong will for a positive workplace culture and our patients to achieve an excellent patient experience.
  • Commitment to rotating roster (including night duty and weekends)

Registered Nurse – Emergency Department

An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated, and proactive emergency nurse to join the team at Williamstown Emergency Department.  A dynamic emergency department, you will have full support from not only an amazing ED team but a wonderful network of staff at Williamstown Hospital.  In addition, education and support to upskill to achieve Advanced Life Support Certificate and competency as a Triage Nurse. We pride ourselves in providing for the community on a daily basis.  The emergency department is open from 0800 – 2300 7 days per week.

Williamstown Hospital is a 90 bed facility providing emergency services, surgical services, rehabilitation and geriatric evaluation and management services, renal dialysis services and community rehabilitation and transition care services.  The Heart of Williamstown Project was completed with thanks to the generosity of the community by raising $2.5million.  The new internal light filled space overlooking landscaped courtyards is for all to access and enjoy.

To be successful for this role you will have:

  • Post Graduate Emergency or Critical Care Nursing is Highly desirable
  • Flexibility to work a rotating roster (AM and PM shifts only) including weekends.
  • Possess excellent clinical and time management skills.
  • Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in a variety of information technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to practice collaboratively as part of a multi – disciplinary health care team.

Bank nurses at Western Health are managed by the Nursing and Midwifery Workforce Unit (NMWU) and are able to work across a variety of wards at Western Health. Bank nurses are required to be available a minimum of one shift a fortnight and are able to pick up shift vacancies as they arise. Shift vacancies are sent out by our allocations team and work opportunities and shift offers will depend on the organisations vacancies each day. Working on Bank provides nurses a great opportunity to develop and expand their clinical skills and to experience a variety of different work places.
