About South West 4 Dandenong Hospital
Monash Health is the largest public hospital service in Victoria, employing over 18000 people across a range of specialties.
South West 4 holds 36 inpatient beds, 32 of which comprise of General Medical beds admitted for cardiac, renal and respiratory conditions. Four inpatient beds are reserves for the High Acuity Nursing Unit (HANU), a new model of care to clinically support patients requiring increased observation under the management of highly trained staff. This new model seeks applicants who are focused in their want for optimising their care to their full Scope of Practice and drive to progress to the next stage of their career to apply. Patients who will be managed in the high acuity unit will be those with post operative management with narcotic infusions, patients needing single doses of antiarrhythmics, antiepileptic management and rapid electrolyte replacement. With increased care, staff will be supported through the completion of online modules and undertaking Direct Observation of Procedural Skills (DOPS) in telemetry management and rhythm interpretation. Contact with internal stakeholders focused on the delivery of care including Clinical Nurse Educators (CNE's), Clinical Support Nurses (CSN's) and Clinical Coach (CC). Performance in the high acuity unit will provide the foundation for ongoing higher educational pathways including successful application to Post Graduate Certificates, Diplomas or Masters in Acute Medical/ Surgical Nursing.
In addition, South West 4 was one of two wards who initially implemented Ward Governance, a structure focused on improving clinical care through safety measures by having a medical, allied health, pharmacy and nursing lead. Staff are encouraged under ward governance to actively engage in quality improvement and risk mitigation activities to provide excellence in care.
About This Role
We are seeking Registered Nurses (RN) with the desire to clinically progress their careers while delivering exceptional standards of care. Previous experience in telemetry management is desired but not essential. Nurses will be responsible for applying excellence in care to achieve optimal patient care, with engagement in portfolio management associated with the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards. Applicants are required to have current experience in General Medicine and be able to engage in care planning for patients with diverse and complex health conditions.
Applicants who are successful are encouraged to apply for the Transition to Specialty Practice within General Medicine to compliment elements of nursing care while support will be provided by the Clinical Education team.
