An exciting opportunity currently exists for a permanent full time experienced Registered Nurses - Division 1 to join our ward - 6 South.


6 South is a 32 bed acute oncology & urology ward based within the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre (ONJ Centre). 6 South manages the inpatient care of all oncology tumor streams. The ONJ Centre also includes haematology and palliative care wards, day oncology and apheresis, radiation oncology, specialist clinics, clinical trials and laboratory research, wellness and information centres. This enables the integration of clinical care with wellness and research for the best outcomes and patient experience.


These roles will give the successful applicants the opportunity to specialise in oncological or surgical nursing while still having exposure to the other. Joining 6South, you can expect a highly professional multi-disciplinary team with support to expand and develop skills in a multitude of areas.


To be successful in this role you must demonstrate/Key responsibilities will include:


Essential for Performance in the Position

  • Registered Nurse, Division 1 (General) or Enrolled Nurse, Division 2 (General)  - AHPRA

  • A minimum of one year acute nursing experience in oncology nursing

  • Commitment to quality, best practice and environmental safety, including participation in the organisational and local mandatory training requirements

  • Knowledge of legal and ethical requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge of professional standards

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form

  • Patient/consumer focused approach to care delivery

  • Ability to problem solve in a variety of situations

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills

  • Flexibility in working hours


Desirable but not essential for Performance in the Position



  • Clinical experience in urology nursing. 

  • A sound understanding of information technology including clinical systems and applications relevant to clinical care of patients (i.e. Cerner, Medtrak, Kronos)

  • Experience and proficiency in keyboarding and Computer skills.

  • Post Graduate Qualifications, or working towards same, in a Surgical or Oncology Discipline
