The expansion of Surgical Services will see the opening of additional inpatient surgical beds in Building B to support additional elective surgery. The 24 bed ward, located on level 2 will cater for patients from all surgical specialties who need to stay in hospital for up to 48 hours.

We are expanding our Surgical Services - Our surgical wards will be supporting X16 Operating theatres across Barwon Health’ through the opening of an additional 40 beds, including the opening of a new ward.

As the Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for the provision of patient focused holistic nursing care to those assigned to you, in order to achieve desired clinical outcomes.
Duties of the role include but are not limited to:
A key site associated with University Hospital Geelong, Building B is a newly refurbished expansion to Barwon Health’s Operating Services. It comprises of 4 operating theatres, Stage one & two recovery, preadmission and discharge facilities with a focus on Barwon Health’s elective surgery restoration plan. Barwon Health’s Operating Services includes 3 points of care; Main theatres, Gretta Volum Centre and now Building B. Between the 3 points of care there are 16 theatres and one endoscopy suite, we perform approximately 22,000 procedures per year from specialities such as; Cardiothoracic, ENT, Gastroenterology, General Surgery, Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Oral Faciomaxillary, Plastics, Orthopaedic, Ophthalmology, Urology, Vascular and Robotic Surgery.
