About the team

The Women’s Emergency Care unit is the Royal Women’s Hospital’s level 2 emergency department. Each year the team cares for over 28,000 women with emergency maternity and gynaecology problems, and provides emergency care for babies under two weeks of age, who were born at The Women's. We are patient-centred, with a focus on the clinical wellbeing of the women and babies who come through our doors.  We are supported by teams across the hospital to look after the psychological, psychosocial, social, and socioeconomic wellbeing of our patients. We work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team under the guidance and leadership of experienced Associate Unit Managers and our Nurse Unit Manager. No two days are ever the same as you empower and care for women and their families.  Our nursing/midwifery staff are an integral part of the Women’s Emergency Care team and are supported by a dedicated team of health professionals, educators and clinical support.
