You are:

  • An AHPRA registered Midwife and Nurse (dual registrant) with a minimum of two years post-registration experience in an acute healthcare setting, preferably emergency care.
  • Passionate about emergency nursing and the health of women and newborns.
  • Committed to learning and advancing your clinical skills in all areas of maternity care.
  • Flexible to work AM, PM and night duty shifts.
  • Someone who thrives in a busy, tertiary hospital environment.

The role

As an integral member of the Women’s Emergency Care team, this role is responsible for activities such as emergency nursing assessment, triage and resuscitation of women, and babies under two weeks of age.

About the team 

The Women’s Emergency Care unit is the Royal Women’s Hospital’s level 2 emergency department. Each year the team cares for over 28,000 women with emergency maternity and gynaecology problems, and provides emergency care for babies under two weeks of age, who were born at The Women's. We are patient-centred, with a focus on the clinical wellbeing of the women and babies who come through our doors.  We are supported by teams across the hospital to look after the psychological, psychosocial, social, and socioeconomic wellbeing of our patients. We work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team under the guidance and leadership of experienced Associate Unit Managers and our Nurse Unit Manager. No two days are ever the same as you empower and care for women and their families.  Our nursing/midwifery staff are an integral part of the Women’s Emergency Care team and are supported by a dedicated team of health professionals, educators and clinical support.

Influenza Vaccination Requirement

In line with the Health Services Amendment (Mandatory Vaccination of Healthcare Workers) Act 2020, some health care workers are now required to have their flu vaccination to work in health care. Evidence of vaccination is required.

As this role fits into category A or B of the departments risk ratings, applicants will be required to have been vaccinated against influenza. Evidence of vaccination is required.
