The Position:

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work in our new facility within our Tambo Medical and Surgical ward caring predominantly for patients with higher acuity care needs using critical care or advanced practice nursing skills.  You will work as part of a small team of skilled professionals who are focussed on providing excellence in patient care.

The Department:

Our Medical/Surgical ward contains 34 beds with 2 bariatric beds and a 4 bed higher acuity area.  The Tambo unit provides care for a large spectrum of medical conditions and post-operative care for gynaecology, urology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, ENT, general surgery patients.  The ward also has facilities for cardiac monitoring via both mobile telemetry units and fixed monitors.

What you need:

  • Minimum of 3 years post registration experience in a recent  acute medical/surgical setting
  • Accredited in ALS, IV cannulation and management of CVADS
  • Competence in high acuity acute medical and surgical nursing with a good understanding of and commitment to providing high quality and compassionate patient centred care.
  • Cardiac nursing experience with the capacity to interpret ECG's and manage acute cardiac patients.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage haemodynamic monitoring, such as arterial and central lines including central venous pressure monitoring.
  • Critical care (HDU, CCU, ICU or ED, Advanced Med/Surg) experience is highly desirable
