Registered Psychiatric Nurse- Biala Unit Kingston Centre

The Kingston Centre plays a vital role in the community providing aged care, aged mental health services and highly regarded rehabilitation programs for adults of all ages. We provide a range of specialist health care and support services to older people, many of whom have complex needs, including Aged Care Assessment and Cognitive Dementia and Memory Services.

Our Journey- Biala Kingston Centre

In support of the growing needs of our diverse local community, Biala Kingston Centre, is a 20 bed inpatient unit. We are a dynamic multidisciplinary team who provide assessment and treatment to those over the age of 65 with psychiatric illness, and/or behavioural problems associated with dementia. We are a standalone site for ECT therapy which is conducted along with Research work undertaken in conjunction with Monash University.

A day in the life

No two days will be the same as you work with an established team to continuously improve the lives of those in the Unit

Our staff use specialist skills and programs that are tailored to address individuals psychiatric, psychological, medical and spiritual needs and to ensure the best possible outcomes.

We are now looking for experienced Registered Psychiatric Nurses to join our Biala Unit at the Kingston Centre.  We have multiple, full- and part-time positions available, working a rotating 24/7 shift roster.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or other trained psychiatric nurse to make a difference to the lives of older people, who are amongst the most vulnerable in our community.

 What you bring

You have demonstrated clinical skills in psychiatric nursing, with good communication and written skills, and you can also demonstrate how you will care in a holistic manner.

You are a confident and lateral thinker who can adapt to any given situation in a calm, considered, caring and engaging manner.

You are 100% patient focussed, with excellent time management skills, and your work will be integral to the multidisciplinary team.

You Also Have:

• Current AHPRA registration


• Proven clinical experience in mental health


• Post graduate qualifications in mental health is essential


• Australian work rights


• Current drivers’ licence


• Aged Persons Mental Health experience is an advantage
