About Unit 1 Dandenong - Ault Mental Health Service

Unit 1 at Monash Health Dandenong is a 25 Bed inpatient unit which sits within the Dandenong Adult Mental Health Service under the Mental Health Program. The service provides care to consumers aged between 25-65 who require short-term inpatient management and treatment during an acute phase of mental illness. Situated in Dandenong, Unit 1 services a culturally diverse population. The multidisciplinary team work with consumers to provide a range of therapeutic interventions and programs, whilst also working collaboratively with families and carers to provide education and guidance on how to best support consumers during their recovery.

About the Role

Unit 1 is looking for experienced Mental Health Registered Nurses with a passion for providing recovery focused patient centred care to consumers during an acute or severe phase of mental illness;

  • Full time and Part time permanent positions available
  • 7 day rotating rosters across all shifts
  • Delivery of day to day patient care
  • Clinical management and decision making

About You

Bringing your passion and genuine interest into Acute Mental Health, you understand the complexities of working in this setting. You are a dynamic, key team player and willing to contribute to the continual improvement of your skills and knowledge as a Mental Health practitioner.

You also have:

  • You have completed or are working towards Post Graduate Qualifications in Mental Health and possess experience in working and providing patient care within the mental health sector in an acute hospital setting, whilst also understanding the Mental Health Act 2014
  • You possess a patient centred approach to your provision of care and work towards making a positive difference, in line with the Monash health iCARE values
  • You understand and demonstrate the values set within an organisation within every aspect of your practice and role model others to do the same
  • You communicate and have the ability to work well within a team environment and demonstrate openness to change and innovation within the workplace

What you need:

  • Demonstrated Nursing experience, in an Acute Inpatient Unit or a Mental Health Graduate Program
  • Minimum of post graduate Diploma in Mental Health nursing
  • OR experience in a specialist undergraduate psychiatric nursing program
  • OR hold a specialist post basic course which led to registration as a Psychiatric Nurse
  • Willingness to take on a portfolio(s) contributing to ward quality improvements and National Standards
  • Current Australian AHPRA nursing registration
  • The ability to live and work in Victoria (Australia) without restriction, including ability to obtain all necessary police clearances and a Working with Children Check
