Barwon Health’s Mental Health Drugs and Alcohol Service (MHDAS) is expanding our Education & Workforce team to support our substantial growth in transition nursing programs. We are seeking a Clinical Nurse Educator to support our transition nurses across their 12 Month MHDAS Entry to practice program. We encourage applications from nurses who wish to maintain a part time clinic position alongside an educator role.
About the service
MHDAS provides integrated and recovery oriented mental health, drugs and alcohol assessment, treatment and community support to people of all ages within the Barwon region experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, mental health and drug & alcohol issues, and their families.
Our service is internationally recognised for its innovative clinical programs and integrated models of practice that are client centred, accessible and family inclusive. We are fortunate to enjoy terrific internal relationships and have developed excellent partnerships with the local community that provide for seamless integrated care for our clients.
About the Role
As the successful applicant you will provide contemporary education within an evidence framework, integrating principles of transformational learning, values based teaching and practice development concepts, in line with the MHDAS Model of Care and Barwon Health values. This will be evidenced by the facilitation of innovative teaching and learning opportunities that support the translation of theory into clinical practice environments, and the empowerment of nurses and health workers in developing knowledge and skill proficiency, critical thinking and reasoning skills.
About the culture
We are an enthusiastic, energetic and focused team who work cohesively together. We promote positive respectful relationships and strong working partnerships in the workplace and in the community. As a team we are focussed on providing the highest quality patient centred care.
