About Unit 4 at Dandenong Hospital


Monash Health is the largest public health service in Victoria, employing over 18,000 people across a range of specialities.


SECU (Unit 4) at Monash Health Dandenong is a 50 bed Secure Extended Care Unit that provides medium to long-term inpatient treatment and rehabilitation for people who have unremitting and severe symptoms of mental illness or disorder. We are a large multidisciplinary team with speciality skills that can meet the holistic needs of our patients. Our point of difference is that being a long stay facility, you have the opportunity to make a difference in the journey of the patients and gain the satisfaction of seeing them recover. Working in our diverse geographical area, you will enjoy the challenges of working with the complexities of mental health and making a positive difference every day.


About the Role


An amazing opportunity has become available for an experienced Mental Health to grow their career within the program at Monash Health. The position will allow you to develop skills further in acute Mental Health within a team environment that support recovery of consumers ensuring that the clients and their families are receiving excellent care.


We have ongoing full and part time opportunities, across 7 days and a rotating roster.


About You


You are a suitably qualified Mental Health Nurse with excellent clinical knowledge or wishing to develop your skills and knowledge further. You are interested in delivering outstanding outcomes for your patients. You love mental health nursing because you are passionate about therapeutically using yourself to support your patients’ unique journey to a life inspired by hope and potential.


Additionally you will possess:



  • Post Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing (or working towards to same) or completion of a specialist undergraduate psychiatric nursing program or specialist post basic course of training which led to registration as a Division 3 nurse (RN ONLY).  

  • Evidence of relevant Mental Health experience

  • Knowledge and experience in using the recovery Principles of Mental Health

  • You are an advocate of Monash Health’s Strategic Guiding Principles

  • Current AHPRA registration

  • Mental Health Nursing experience 

  • Relevant Qualifications in Mental Health 

  • Focus on Patient-Centred Care  

  • Relevant working visa 

  • Relevant qualifications
