About the role

The Restoration Ecologist will lead the development and delivery of scientifically-based approaches for ecosystem management within Wilsons Promontory National Park. This includes designing and implementing adaptive management projects to restore critical habitats, such as coastal vegetation, through revegetation, invasive species control, and ecological burning programs. The role will involve interpreting ecological data, identifying research priorities, and developing evidence-based strategies to address key conservation challenges.

The Restoration Ecologist will collaborate closely with internal teams, research partners, and other stakeholders to integrate scientific knowledge into practical on-ground management. Strong project management skills are essential, as the role requires planning, delivering, and reporting on multiple high-profile environmental projects within strict timeframes. Additionally, the position will play a key role in fostering partnerships, providing technical advice, and facilitating knowledge sharing to ensure successful ecological outcomes across the park's diverse landscapes.

We're looking for someone with:

  • Demonstrated experience in provision of expert and technical advice and support.
  • Experience in project management and multiple portfolio management
  • Demonstrated experience in engagement and stakeholder management
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of fire to deliver ecological outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to use relevant mapping and data analysis programs to analyse and evaluate information.
  • A Tertiary qualification in Science and/or equivalent experience in a similar field.
